Nearly $50,000 in new scholarships available for college
Several new college scholarships, only recently received by Utica Dollars for Scholars, will be available to graduating seniors at two local high schools this year. The deadline for application of these new scholarships, plus many additional awards, is April 15, 2017.
Students at Thomas R. Proctor and Notre Dame High Schools in Utica may apply for the Dr. John P. Sheehan and the Virginia A. Bowmaker scholarships, through the Utica Dollars for Scholars website. Both awards are managed by The Community Foundation of Herkimer & Oneida Counties.
Also new and available through the Utica Dollars for Scholars online application are five awards funded by the Utica Free Academy Alumni Association at The Community Foundation. Proctor graduates are eligible to apply for the UFA awards.
Eligibility criteria for the Sheehan, Bowmaker, UFA Alumni, and all other scholarship opportunities are listed on the UFDS website. Students from Utica and school districts throughout Oneida and Herkimer counties can research their eligibility for a variety of local and national scholarships.
In 2016, 88 scholarships totaling $111,450 were presented to students at a ceremony held at First Presbyterian Church in Utica. For more information, contact UDFS at email@example.com.
